Bathroom Vanity Replacement cost
Swapping a vanity in the same spot is mostly plumbing: disconnect it, pull the old cabinet, level the new one and hook it back up. Figure about $832 nationally, and anywhere between $336 and $1,812.
What turns up under the old cabinet decides where you land: a soft floor, a corroded drain or a wall that needs patching. The vanities with tops we checked at Home Depot ran $230 to $1,030 including a new faucet. Moving the drain is a different job.

same-spot swap of a 24–31 in. freestanding vanity with top, plus a new faucet; moving the drain or supply lines is out of band. National OEWS mean wage used on this page: $34.70/hr (SOC 47-2152).
How the national mid is built
Before you enter a ZIP we use the U.S. OEWS mean wage for Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters (SOC 47-2152): $34.70/hr (BLS OEWS May 2025). Mid estimate ≈ 4.0 hours × $34.70 × 2.25× markup + materials mid $520 (with a small regional materials factor). Low uses p10 wages × 2.0×; high uses p90 × 2.5×. National planning band: $336 – $832 – $1,812.

Published materials low / mid / high: $230 / $520 / $1,030 (same-spot swap of a 24–31 in. freestanding vanity with top, plus a new faucet; moving the drain or supply lines is out of band). Shelf checks that shaped the band (see also DATA_SOURCES):
Vanity with top: Glacier Bay 31 in. ~$199 · Glacier Bay Oakley 25 in. ~$219 · Faris 24 in. ~$249 · Everdean 31 in. ~$359 · Home Decorators Doveton 30 in. ~$449 · Vanity Art 30 in. ~$487–$695 · Home Decorators Aberdeen 30 in. ~$879 (24 in. search, 30 in. search). Band = vanity ($199 / $449 / $879) plus the bathroom-faucet band ($30 / $70 / $150), rounded.
Before you replace a bathroom vanity
- Measure three things. Width, depth, and where the drain and supply lines come out of the wall. A vanity that fits the old footprint but puts the drain off to one side means extra plumbing time.
- Expect a surprise under the old cabinet. Floors often stop at the old vanity's edge, and slow leaks leave soft subfloor. Ask how the quote handles a gap in the flooring or rotten wood before work starts.
- Check the shutoffs. Old valves that won't close all the way are a common add-on. Replacing them while the wall is open is cheaper than doing it later.
- Buy the faucet with the vanity. Match the top's hole pattern (single hole, 4 in. centerset, or 8 in. widespread). EPA WaterSense labeled bathroom faucets use no more than 1.5 gallons per minute.

What usually moves the number
- Vanity width and top material
- Whether the new drain lines up with the old one
- Flooring or wall damage hidden under the old cabinet
- Corroded shutoff valves
- Faucet tier

Bathroom Vanity Replacement FAQ
How much does bathroom vanity replacement cost?
About $832 at the US midpoint, with our range running $336 to $1,812. Enter your ZIP and the calculator swaps in local wages for plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters (BLS OEWS May 2025, SOC 47-2152). The national average wage we start from is $34.70 an hour.
Where do the hours and parts prices come from?
The hours (2.5 / 4.0 / 6.0) are our own estimates for the scope described on this page. Parts and materials ($230 / $520 / $1,030) come from store prices we checked and list on our data sources page. We multiply labor by 2.0, 2.25 or 2.5 to cover a contractor's overhead and profit; the methodology page explains why.
Is this a quote?
No. It's a planning range so you know roughly what to expect. When you're ready to hire, get written estimates from licensed pros. The FTC's home repair tip sheet says to get three, and to ask why they differ. Check what each one leaves out, like permits, haul-away and patching.
Any rebates or tax credits?
WaterSense-labeled bathroom faucets may qualify for occasional water-utility rebates — check your water utility.
